Simon Shaw is not a detective but works for the police department and hopes for an advancement. He is a lonely man who takes out Karen Jenkins on a date. She is raped the same night and Simon finds himself under suspicion. The attack on Karen is only the first in a series of bizarre and terrifying crimes. This is the first book I have read based on experiences from a police inspector in Surrey England.
Jacqueline Wilson draws us into a brillant exploration into a police investigation and into the mind of a rapist. Her husband is a police inspector in Surrey England and the background for this book is based on that. A pretty good read from an Englishmen's point of view.
