Third book about the intertwined families at Chadcombe. Lady Olivia Fanton fell in love with Jem Ford when he was nobody with nothing to offer, but he did not speak. Four years later, when Jem has been through Waterloo, has come into an inheritance and is a friend of the Fanton family, he reappears in her life. She feels the same attraction toward him as before, but he's hard to read, and she's being courted by another polished beau, George Manning.
