As a huge fan of Rachel Gibson I couldn't wait for another story about the Seattle Chinooks hockey players. This time it's Sam LeClaire's turn. Years ago Sam went to Las Vegas and had a quickie wedding with a woman he'd just met- Autumn Haven. Problem is, Sam walked out on Autumn after their wild weekend and never looked back. Now, years later, the couple are divorced and co-parenting a toddler named Conner. When Autumn serves as the wedding planner for Sam's fellow hocker player, Ty Savage, Sam attempts to make a big play for his ex-wife. But, having been burned by Sam before, Autumn has no intentions of letting her ex husband use her as a plaything. This is a very good book. Gibson knows how to create heat and intensity with her couples. The only thing I didn't like was the way Sam walked out on Autumn. Luckily, Gibson showed how Sam could transform into a different, more responsible lover and father.

It was fun to get another chance to read some more about the Chinooks Hockey team and get Sam's story, but this time it was a bit tough to become invested in the characters. Nothing really seemed to explain the change in Sam LeClaire and why he ignored his son for 5 years and now has a change of heart? Why is he attracted to Autumn now and is willing to stick?

The fun and humor in the story was there and so were some hot/steamy scenes, the kid, Connor, stole the show with not being a good hockey player and trying to get his parents together. But in the end, I didn't really care if Sam and Autumn got together or not because I never really felt like they explained what changed between them or convinced me that they could make marriage work.

Still worth reading, but my least favorite of the Hockey/Chinooks series.

This book was okay.

It's very repetitive in the beginning where the same information is given to you over and over again by the characters. I think maybe Gibson should have really went back and cleaned up some of that because it was very jumble. But towards the middle the writing smooths out and you don't get redundant information any longer.

I enjoyed the storyline. The characters are somewhat unrealistic though. I don't buy that Simon, who has been a selfish jerk and dead beat dad for five years can all of a sudden turn it around so quickly. He never makes another mistake. Autumn's hot and cold behavior was a bit annoying at times. I'm also unsure how they all of a sudden turned from lust to love so quickly. It doesn't seem like they have evolved much from their drunk Vegas self when they get together.

It was still a decent story. I loved that we get to revisit Faith, Bo, and Chelsea again.

Nice, relaxing, story. A typical love story with a women fighting the urge to return the love of a man who has hurt her. Good storyline and and interesting characters. An easy enjoyable quick read, well worth it!

Six years ago, Autumn Haven met Hockey Player Sam LeClaire while she was vacationing in Las Vegas. Five days of drinking, gambling, and sex leads to being married by an Elvis impersonator. When Sam wakes up the next morning, he knows he has made a big mistake and leaves Autumn at the hotel. After a quick divorce, Sam doesn't hear from her until she tells him she is pregnant. When Connor is born, Sam takes care of his son financially but leaves everything else to Autumn. Now Sam has had a change of heart. He wants to be a better father than his dad and knows he needs to spend more time with his child. Autumn is glad he is taking an interest, but doesn't believe it will last.

This is the last book in Rachel Gibson's Chinook Hockey Team series. I liked Autumn and understood her problem with Sam. He left her to raise their child all by herself. She doesn't want to depend on anyone else if she can help it and doesn't trust that he will be there down the road. Sam was a bit hard to like. He was the kind of guy who would cancel an outing with his son just to go barhopping with the guys. I was happy he saw the light and decided to get serious about his relationship with his son. As we learned more about him, it helped me understand why Sam acted as he did. His groveling to Autumn later in the story went a long way toward me liking him.

Some of the characters from previous books show up in this one. It was nice to see them. I also loved the Autumn's Navy Seal brother, Vince, and his adversarial relationship with Sam. It was hilarious. My rating: 4 Stars.
