This book has spanned several years in my son's life. Now a 7th grader with a 11th grade reading level, he has read this book as a child and again as a studentin need of a non-fiction book assignment. The format recalls easy reader books, but the style does not talk down to the child. The series "science stories" are extremely well done and worth having the shelf for curious children.
