I had previously read the Mists of Avalon and liked it, so, I figured I would give this one a try. Well, it took a lot more to get through Ancestors of Avalon. It was a lot slower going, very dry. Just O.K., I guess.
Although this is the last in the series -- it is actually a pre-quel to "the Mists of Avalon" (which I re-read after this book). This book tells you background information on the main characters and how they came to be in Avalon. This is a great read.
I was very excited to read this book - as Mists of Avalon has stuck with me for years. Overall, it was good. I could tell, however, that Marion Zimmer Bradley was NOT the author...Diana Paxson told an interesting story but without Bradley's beautiful writing.
