The Enterprise crew travels to a planet where all the inhabitants wear masks and it is taboo to be found without one. The crew intends to evaluate the planet for entry into the Federation, but runs into a problem and has to learn to deal with the culture of the planet. It's a pretty decent read. The medieval society with the masks is interesting, but this takes place during the second season, which I didn't care for much. I really didn't care for Dr. Pulaski. It's worth a read, though.

I found this book very interesting. How often have you wished you could have a mask to hide your true emotions behind, and show what kind of power you can claim? I did find one of Captain Picard's scenes a little disturbing, as it was something that you would expect more from Kirk than Picard.

This story is fantastic! It's even great for non-fans of the Star Trek Next-Gen series. Data and Picard are both central characters of the story.

An enjoyable star trek next generation novel in which the stng crew are involved with a post-theatrical society in which rank, staus and role is determined by masks.
