There is a section covering "Special Seasonings" which covers the use (as a seasoning) of anchovy, beer, cheese, fats, flowers and fruits, mushrooms, nuts, wines, and liqueurs.
There were some delicious-sounding recipes and also some interesting ones. The main draw of this book isn't the recipes, though - although there are a lot of them - but the facts, stories, tidbits, and trivia about nearly every spice and herb you've ever heard of. Fascinating and well-organized.
