Hi Everyone,

I've searched the help documents and forums and can't seem to find an answer to my question and hope someone can help. Do books on tape fall into the "sound recordings" section of the media mail rate regulations? It seems to me that they ought to, but when I mailed my first book on tape this morning I asked if books on tape qualify for the media mail rate and was told that they didn't.

Thanks,

Robyn S.

Yes, they do -- the clerk was wrong!

Yes, recorded CD's, DVD's, and tape qualify for Media Mail (your clerk was wrong).  OTOH, blank copies of the same media do not qualify for MM, nor do photo albums, address books, etc.

ETA - double checked again yesterday, and the USPS clerk agreed the above is correct.  But for some reason, game dvd's are handled differently and not considered Media Mail.

Thanks for the info! The next time I'll know and simply request the media mail rate and not ask the question.
