So since I've been whining recently, I just wanted to say....I went on UPS website and found out the cost of shipping my latest book UPS.  Just because I was curious.  By sheer coincidence it was travelling coast-to-coast, so I will admit this was a worst-case scenario.

The USPS media mail cost was $2.13.

UPS?  Over $9.  By ground.

That's all I gotta say right now.  I'll be remembering this next time I'm in the endless PO Line.

The USPS is a bargain.  We might have to jump through a lot of hoops, but it's worth it to me.

Yep, there is no better way to send out books than Media Mail!  I just sent out a 17 lb box and it cost less than $8 to ship!  That's a bargain.

Not to mention you have to be there when the UPS rings your bell to get your package.

My mail carrier knows that even if I don't answer the bell, it's fine by me if he leaves them on the steps in the foyer.  And if he has a sub, I just sign the slip and indicate the day I'd like the package to be delivered and it shows up on that day.

UPS (my driver anyway) has to have the signature on his handheld signing-machine-thingy so he can't redeliver packages when I'm not at home and leave them.
