Tonight, Sam Offen spoke at my local library and my boyfriend and I went to hear him speak. His story was fantastic, and was just a taste of what his book would be like. He's 89 years old and lives right here in metro Detroit. Since I can't even begin to tell you all about it, I just wanted to strongly suggest getting a copy of his book, When Hope Prevails. I know the hardcover is wishlisted, since I added my copy to my TBR list, but sorry, I'm keeping mine! He signed it for me and we spoke for a little bit. Only about 25 people came to hear him speak. Since he has to be one of the few survivors that are left, I was completely honored to listen to him for an hour and a half.

I'm sorry if my post doesn't sound too intelligent lol. I'm so tired, but didn't want to go to bed without posting this and sharing.

All the good stuff seems to happen on your side of the state!  I would have loved to go to this.  The owner of the building I work in is a survivor of the holocaust.  He is 92 years old and still comes to work every day.  Thanks for sharing.  I'll be adding this one to my WL.
