I just received an offer for one of the books on my WL--To Ride Pegasus by Anne McCaffrey.  However, at the same time I received a PM from the sender stating that the book she actually offered me is not the book on my WL at all, but another HC book (The Wings of Pegasus) which includes both the first and second stories in this series (To Ride Pegasus, Pegasus in Flight).  She then describes the condition of the book which doesn't really matter to me as long as it meets PBS standards.

My question is how to refuse the offer and still keep my place in the WL line.  I don't want the copy she is offering.  In fact, if I did, I would have already ordered it as there are copies already in the system.  I have not yet accepted the offer, so I don't think she can cancel.  But if I say I don't want it, won't that move it off my WL?

If I do accept and send her a PM requesting that she cancel the order so I can keep my place in the WL line what do I do if she sends the book anyway?

HELP!

She must cancel the order since she is at fault. Tell her you do NOT want the book, and want her to cancel. Tell her you would rather not have to go to PBS to get the order cancelled, but will if she does not do so on her own.

It is totally against the rules to post a book that does not match four critical items: ISBN, TITLE, AUTHOR, BINDING. remind her that that was a very big box on the screen that she ignored when she posted the book.

If she does send the book anyway, you will mark the book Received With A Problem (RWAP) and ask for your credit back, because it is the WRONG book. The system will automatically place you at the head of the list again.

ETA: Also, tell her you are accepting the offer, strictly so that she can cancel, since she cannot cancel until you accept, forgot that part. But, make sure you are clear again that you do NOT want this book, it is the WRONG book, and she CANNOT send it without getting into trouble with PBS.

That's what I thought Sherry.  Thanks so much for the quick response :)

Since it is an omnibus, Heather, you might suggest that she post it under the proper ISBN, etc, as those can be highly desirable.

Cheers,

Catt

I tried that Catt, but the book apparently does not have its own ISBN, just the ISBNs of the two books.  When I did a search for the book, several showed up as having been posted with the PBS ISBNs and a couple are actually still available.  She doesn't seem to want to go the route of posting as a book without an ISBN.  She did cancel the order though and I thanked her for  that and for letting me know about the book in the first place.
