Memoirs: The First Thirty Years 1915-1945
Memoirs The First Thirty Years 1915-1945 Author:James H. Robertson (from the back cover) I was born in Brooklyn on March 5, 1915. When my father died in the flu epidemic in 1919, my Grandma came to take care of my sister Betty and me while my mother worked. In September 1... more »937, I followed my sister to Ann Arbor and enrolled at the University of Michigan as a graduate student in English. Aside from four years military service in World War II, Ann Arbor and the University have been my home for my family and my career. In June, 1941 I married Jean Belknap; we have three children --Jamie, Jack, Betsy and three grandchildren, Erik, Kate and Andrew.
My entire professional career at the University has been devoted to teaching and counseling undergraduates in liberal arts -- as teacher and associate Dean of the Residential College. It has been a rewarding, satisfying career as I hope to show in memoirs which will follow this present account of my growing up in Brooklyn, graduate school, romance and the war.« less
