This is a collection of cartoons and essays talking about boyhood on the farm in the 20s and 30s.
The author is a good writer; he describes things using all senses. He tells about the good and the bad, the enjoyable and horrible chores. It was an interesting look at a time I know little about--before electricity or running water in the farmhouses, of bobsled (a box with runners, not the olympic type), one room school houses, and trouble boys would get in on the farm. The author has a cheerful view of life and the cartoons are usually of an amusing part of farm life--and were where the book started, and then grew into essays about the aspects of farm life.
