After reading Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood, I had to read another and Mercy was not a disappointment. As with the other novel, this one more or less centered around a couple falling in love, replete with some steamy bedroom scenes. But the main plot of the book was about man's greed and how far he's willing to go and who he has to get rid of to attain wealth.

The only contemporary Julie Garwood that I've enjoyed since she started publishing this series of books. I really enjoyed it, but all of the follow ups have been very disappointing. This one is worth it, though.

This is a good mystery and Julie Garwood always writes good characters who have a sense of humor and make you laugh. It is about a group called "The Sowing Club" that gets caught up in greed. The FBI & a Justice Attorney end up in a little town called Bowman with a beautiful doctor. Then the fun begins.....

This book is part of the Buchanan sibling series. All have been very good books. The Buchanan books are: "Heartbreaker" (Nick), "Mercy" (Theo), "Murder List" (Alec), "Slow Burn" (Dylan), & "Shadow Dance" (Jordan). There is also an intersecting character story involving the brother of Michelle from Theo's story. "Killjoy" comes after "Mercy".

This is the 2nd book in the Buchanan-Renard series. Each book apparently is about different members of the Buchanan family or someone else introduced in a subsequent book. Heartbreaker the first was very good but Mercy was excellent. A couple of surprises makes it really interesting. Worth reading in order but not necesary to enjoy Mercy.

This book is the second in a series - good combination of romance and action - a little slow at first but it picks up. An enjoyable read for Garwood fans.

Author takes readers into New Orleans' exclusive Garden District and the backwoods of Louisiana's mysterious bayou country in an unforgettable novel of passion and suspense that cuts straight to the heart. There is a fine line between desire and obsession, between mercy and murder.

Being from Louisiana, I read just about anything that takes place there. The food, unique cultures and unusual characters make New Orleans a locale for a novel. This was a good book.

Ms. Garwood has set the bar for romantic suspense! Heartbreaker was good, but Mercy was Wonderful. It picked up right away and was fast paced. Mercy was a perfect balance of mystery, suspense, comedy and sexy. Michelle and Theo were great and had awesome secondary characters. It will leave you hungry for more.

This one starts out slow. It took well over 100 pages to really get going and become a thriller. You could see what was going to happen but that didn't stop it from being interesting. The ending is somewhat open and allows the reader to draw their own conclusions. Overall a good book.

Justice Department Attorney Theo Buchanan met the girl of his dreams when his appendix nearly burst. If Dr. Michelle Renard hadn't noticed how sick he was at the party where he was guest speaker, Theo could have died. Now he has recovered and has decided to take some time off and visit the Louisiana bayou after Michelle's father, Big Daddy Jake, invited him to go fishing. When Theo arrives in the small town, he learns that someone has broken into Michelle's clinic and smashed everything. Michelle doesn't understand why someone would do this. She doesn't keep drugs on the premises. When someone comes gunning for Michelle and Theo, they are running for their lives with a band of gunmen hot on their heels.

I thought this book was a big improvement over the previous book in the series. A group of four friends calling themselves The Sowing Club have been committing white-collar crimes for several years; hiding their money in an offshore account. When their secrets are on the verge of being discovered, they will stop at nothing to keep their money and stay out of jail.

This story had a very likeable couple, along with some great supporting characters. There was just the right amount of humor to go along with the long sequences of suspense. I loved it and I'm ready to dive into the next book. My rating: 5 Stars.

"It seems that over time books in the romantic suspense genre begin to run together and seem formulaic. While Mercy has strains of the norm, it is given enough spice to make me not want to put the book down! I loved the relationship between the main characters and of course adding Noah (from Heartbreaker) with a few zingers made it hard for me not to chuckle out-loud while reading at work!

The romance sizzled with refreshing honesty between the characters and the suspense kept me hooked! If you enjoy romantic suspense, you'll enjoy the added zip Mercy gives to the genre's formula plots." amazon

Bestselling author Julie Garwood has a new calling--contemporary romantic suspense fiction. While longtime fans of Garwood hope she won't forsake the historical romance genre that has been so successful for her, this versatile author is coming into her own as a creator of amazingly complex and detailed suspense novels. In Mercy, Theo Buchanan, the brother of FBI agent Nick Buchanan from Heartbreaker, Garwood's first foray into suspense fiction, meets surgeon Dr. Michelle "Mike" Renard when he throws up on her designer dress at a New Orleans gala. Dr. Mike saves Theo's life with an emergency appendectomy, enabling him to return to Boston and his job as a federal prosecutor.

They called themselves the Sowing Club and for years they have been building an illegal fortune in an offshore account. When lead member John Russell plans to end his wifes tormented life, they turn to a shadowy figure named Monk to make the death look accidental.

But Catherine Russell wanted to make her husbands life miserable even after her death and apparently made copies of the groups illegal activities, sending the evidence to her cousin, Dr. Michelle Renard.

Upon meeting the beautiful Dr. Michelle at a banquet, justice Department attorney Theo Buchanan promptly threw up on her and collapsed. Fortunately, she recognized he was suffering from an acute appendicitis attack and took him to the hospital. After spending her residency in New Orleans, Michelle is now returning home to her small Louisiana town to serve as the local doctor.

Intrigued, Theo takes every opportunity to get to know the pretty doctor better. However, Theo and Michelles burgeoning relationship gets sidetracked when a series of break-ins leads them to suspect that something sinister is going on.
