Inside a wealthy family's elegant home, a crime is about to be committed. A crime so shocking - so seemingly random - that a tiny upstate New York town will never be the same. Gradually, evidence will lead the authorities to the family's new nanny, a woman whose past is shrouded in mystery...and violence.

Now her past has followed her into the present, as she becomes the prime suspect in the sensational murder investigation. With no way to prove her innocence, she turns to the one man offering her much more than sanctuary from the prying eyes of a small town.

But as she struggles to find answers to the secrets behind the crime, she discovers that nothing - and no one - are what they seem. That you cannot escape from the past. And that trusting the wrong person can destroy your sanity...and your life.

Would have rated this book higher as the writing was excellent and the mystery was not an easy one to unravel but had a problem with the "heroine" aka the "victim" as she kept messing up in the same way with the same type men OVER and OVER.... Was left with the feeling at the end of the book that she was STILL "an accident waiting to happen"!

This is such a great book! I just stumbled upon it one day at the bookstore and am so glad I did. I think this might have been written using a pen name b/c it's been a while and no further books have been issued by this author. Pity b/c it's good! I recommend it for a great mystery...great beach book...or a cozy, by-the-fire book.
