When I started this book and got about 100 pages into it, I felt it was lyrically written and seemed to be more about the language flowing in the book more so than the story itself. Friends had given this book glorious reviews or I would likely have given up. I am glad I didn't. Although some of the storyline is so archaic that it is impossible to believe that is took place in the 1990's, it can be overlooked as the story begins to present itself and carefully unwind over the last 150 pages. So much so that I can easily rate this a 3.5 star book. Make sure you keep with it, give it more time and more pages than usual, it gets better, it gets great!
