Got this in a PM about a requested book:

Forgot to tell you there is a pretty bad skip on disc 10. I will mail anyway and will refund credit if you are not satisfied.

I can't cancel the order, sender has already marked it as accepted and there is no cancel order button (I thought I'd have it as long as they haven't printed the label, but I guess that's not true).

I don't want a CD with a bad skip and especially "forgot to tell you" ??? I PMed back not to send it and to cancel it so I can get my credit back, haven't heard from sender about that yet. Not only will that impair the story for me I can't trade it myself after I'm through. Is there anything else I can do?

If there is known damage, it should not be sent. it's against the rules. If they do not respond and/or mark the package mailed, you can contact the admins using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and incluse the sender's PM to you. They do not appreciate people doing this type of thing.

Audio books are allowed to have 3 minor skips.  I wonder what she means by pretty bad?  Sounds like it might be worse than a minor skip.

One possibility -- if she mails it anyway, wait until it arrives.  Try playing disc 10 on your CD player.  (There's always a chance that your player is better at playing discs than hers.)  If it's a bad skip on your CD player, mark it received with a  problem --> damaged by sender, and ask for your credits back.  This puts you back on the wish list in your former spot in line if the book was a wish list book.  The book will go onto your reminder list if there are copies available here.

They must have printed or accessed the address if you can't cancel.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Ok, I got a response from her that she gave me 2 credits and had already mailed it. It was nice of her to send me credits, though.

I'll play disk 10 and see how bad the skip is. I will try to fix it with the old toothpaste method if it's really bad. A few skips I can handle, as I know stuff like this happens, but to mail it then contact me with "I forgot to tell you" was kind of weird and I had never had that happen.

Should I still report it to PBE?

Email the publisher of the CD or call customer service. I did that when I  found a thrift store 10 CD set with one disc missing. It was sent to me free!!

As long as she refunded the credits without arguing I wouldn't report it, the lesson learned by the lost postage should be more effective than being yelled at by the admins. I would probably give her the benefit of the doubt this time.
