So, I've spent the better part of the last 15 months reading the entire Michael Connelly collection from first book to last, in order.  I am halfway through The Scarecrow and 9 Dragons is on the bookshelf ready to go.

So, my question is, what to go with next??  This was the first time I've ever read an entire series by one author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the fact that in subsequent books, there is a quick reference to something that happened years ago in a different book. Great crossover even between series.

I'm also a Brad Meltzer fan, and have read all of his and plan on starting Stieg Larrson's Millenium books next as well, but any ideas on another writer on the same wavelength as Connelly? Can be either one-off books or full-on series.

Thanks for any input!

I'm a huge Michael Connelly fan as well...

Some other authors/series I really enjoy are

John Lescroart's Dismas Hardy series

Jeffrey Deaver's Lincoln Ryme Series

I've read a couple of Greg Iles books and really enjoyed them--looking forward to reading more

I know there's more I'm not thinking of right now, but thos were the first authors that came to mind at the mention of Michael Connelly.

I heart Michael Connelly books!

Lee Child (I've just read the first one and liked it)

Brian Freeman has a series that's really good

Cody McFadyen - main character is a woman, sooooo good!

Chelsea Cain - her Archie/Gretchen books are amazing

ETA:

Haven't read these, but know lots of people who rave about them:

James Grippando

Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child - Agent Pendergrast series

I am definitely a Connelly fan.  Have you read David Baldachi? He is one of my favorite and so is Greg Illes.   Gripando is good; Lee Childs is FAST reading (good Jack Reacher series; can read in order but not a catastrophe if you don't; "One Shot" is currently being made into a movie. )  "The Lion's Game" and "The Lion by DeMille are very good.

I've only read a few of his so far... you all are inspiring me to add him to my TBR list.

Which of his books would you add to a list of all time BEST mysteries?

Something of his surely belongs on the list.  Which one(s) stand out after reading them all?

Appreciate your suggestions for my reading list and the Club Booklist I've started here.

Thanks.  MP

I agree with some of the above but not yet mentioned is C.J. Box. His Joe Pickett character is a Bosch like Wyoming game warden. I also recommend David Rosenfelt, not as "heavy" reading as Bosch but humorous and suspenseful courtroom novels.

Michael Connelly is great--I want to second the opinion of Mike S.  Robert Crais' Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series is wonderful.  He and Connelly are friends and actually give shout-outs to each other in their books!  I am also partial to Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series.  Little more humor, but still great reads.

I'm also a huge Michael Connelly fan.  Casting another vote for Lee Child - the "Jack Reacher" series is fantastic.

I am also in the process of reading the entire Michael Connelly series.

Author series I would recommend - Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme, Child's Jack Reacher, and of course, Rankin's Inspector Rebus.

Glad someone included Rankin.  How about P.D. James Inspector Dagleish?
