Anyone have a preference? I have been going to Michael's for years, but AC Moore stores are coming into our area now. There is one that's closer to me than any other store, so I am thrilled!

Depends on the craft. Ours have different strengths and put different things on sale each week. AC Moore often has sales of 20 to 25% your entire purchase and moolight madness sales so I probably shop there more, or at least check there first. Luckily the stores are basically across the street from each other so if one does not have what I want, it is so easy to go to the other. Enjoy having both in your area! |

AC Moore has a better selection of yarn. |

I prefer Michaels. I think that is because AC Moore is very close and going to Michaels is more of a "treat" to me. |

well, for me Michaels is about 17 miles away and I don't even know where A C Moores is located. I look mostly for yarn.

Our A.C. Moore definitely has a better yarn selection, too. |

I am spoiled. I work across the street from AC Moore so that's where I most often go but Michaels is only a mile away from where I work and JoAnns is 3 miles from where I live. I can always find someplace to get into trouble! |

Don't know or have never heard of A C MOORE. What am I missing. We just got hobby lobby store here but they don't have much in yarn |

I agree with others that AC Moore has the better yarn selection. I've got one of each within 2 miles of me; within 10 miles I've got 2 Michael's and 3 AC Moores. I check them out both now and then -- but don't shop at either of them regularly. I prefer to go to specialty shops for my craft needs. |

Add me to the group that loves AC Moore's yarn selection. But see if you have a local yarn shop in your area. I've found some really great stuff there that blows all of the big chains out of the water. |

I like Michael's but I don't have one near by. I do have a JoAnn's and a PatCatan' s close by and we don't have an A.C. Moore here in Cleveland. |

I think Hobby Lobby is waaaay overpriced. There sales actually bring items down to what they should cost normally. Both AC Moore & Michaels (& JoAnn's for that matter) have their plus & minuses. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I'm lucky in that my mom has owned a craft & fabric store for the past 20 years. So, most everything I need, she can get for me. Or, most of the time, she has it in stock or suggests something else that will work just as well. So, IMO, the mom & pop stores are the best for customer service & for helping bring ideas into reality. AC Moore's & Michaels just don't have that "homey" feel or very knowledgeable staff that can visualize a finished product and "think outside the box". But, they do have good sales... |

Wish we had more "mom and pop" stores to choose from. |

I went into Michaels last night. They have signs up in their yarn department saying that there will be a new yarn department coming in the spring. Lots of the bins were empty. It will be interesting to see what they are bringing in. |
