Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley
Author: Naguib Mahfouz
Considered by many to be Mahfouz's best novel,  Midaq Alley centers around the  residents of one of the hustling, teeming back alleys  of Cairo. No other novel so vividly evokes the  sights and sounds of the city. The universality and  timelessness of this book cannot be denied.

I really loved this book. It's the story of a group of people who live in Midaq Alley in a not-so-good part of Cairo, Egypt, and what evolves in life for a certain girl who lives in the Alley. Very good characters and a wonderful look at Cairo in the mid-20th century.
