I find this a very weak book, apparently aimed at Fourth graders with little background in this period in our history. It is copiously illustrated with photos from the Smithsonian archives, but is very, very simplistic. For example, there is virtually nothing about the West and little about how things could go well with luck and pluck. The index is good but leads to little content.
There are two wishes outstanding for this book but I am not sure I want to waste my money mailing it.
