Even though I'm an adult, I enjoyed this book so much. It is the cutest story about a ceramic rabbit doll and his many adventures. I made my mom read it and she absolutely loved it. She can't stop talking about Edward!

What a wonderfully sweet book about a rabbit who gets lost at sea and takes an incredible journey that teaches him how to love. 5 stars plus

I really wanted to read DiCamillo's new book "The Magician's Elephant" and while I am on the waiting list at the library to get it I decided to check out some of her other books. After reading the synopsis of a couple, I decided this book looked interesting. It ended up being a very well written story and an amazing book.

Edward is a china rabbit that belongs to a young girl. But Edward is a vain rabbit, more concerned about his appearance than about how the little girl loves him. Edward can see the world around him and think about the world but he cannot really interact. Edward's life changes forever when he is lost overboard into the sea and goes on a journey that takes him through many people's lives.

DiCamillo is an excellent story teller. There are few writers out there that you can just tell right away are excellent classic story tellers; DeCamillo is one. This story engaged me immediately and took me on a wonderful emotional and physical journey; where I watched as things unravel from Edward's prespective.

While the story is more focused at children, I think all ages will adore it. For an adult it is a very quick read, but a wonderful read nonetheless. At some parts it reminded me a little of "The Veleteen Rabbit" and at other parts the story telling reminded me somewhat of Neil Gaiman's stories for children. What surprised me is despite the number of characters that Edward meets all of them are very real and engaging. I was surprised at both how heart-breaking parts of the story were and how beautiful other parts were. It takes a good writer to pack that much emotion and that much journey into such a slight novel. A couple points in the novel are quite sad, and I wondered if I would be able to get through them while reading aloud without crying. So, a warning to parents who would read this to their children, maybe take a quick breeze through it first to see what you think.

I was also impressed at the lesson the tale tells. It teaches a good lesson about what is really important in life. This is one of those stories that can be enjoyed on many levels. Kids will love the story about a thinking china rabbit on an adventure and adults will be drawn in my this rabbit's quest to figure out what it means to love and be loved. It is a wonderful writer who can appeal to such a wide audience at so many levels. Overall, a wonderful story; I am looking forward to reading more of DiCamillo's books.

A well-written and beautifully illustrated book, this story will take you places you have never been through the eyes of a china rabbit. Be cautious when reading the last chapter, however. It will be quite a present from the author when you realize the carefully crafted ending she has in store for you! I was mesmerized.

Enchanting and transforming! I read this with my daughter, and it showed me the importance of each soul, no matter how tattered the body. DiCamillo is a favorite author to share with my daughter.

My son insisted I read this book. He said it was the best rabbit book ever. I was reading a couple other books already, but I agreed to listen to the CD since he was so adamant. I'm glad I did. It was definitely a very good book. He was right. One of the best rabbit books ever. This is right up there with the Velveteen Rabbit. You just fall right in love with Edward.

Oh, mywhat a fantastic book! It's about the process of learning to love and the course our psyche takes as we age - beginning with ego. Edward goes through many stages and "tries on" many personalities and still retains himself, which changes all the time. Who he ends up at the end, through this physical and emotional journey, is a person (a rabbit person) to whom we can all relate.

This is a story (and an allegory) people of any age can enjoy. Highly, highly, highly recommended for anyone and everyone. So beautiful and so meaningful.

A wonderfully sweet story. I enjoyed it as an adult, but it would be a great read-aloud story for a child.

I read this book aloud to my third grade class at the beginning of each year. They are enthralled. They plead for me to read more often and for longer; some classes have even applauded at the end. It becomes a point of reference to third-graders throughout the year. Old-fashioned, yet fresh; this story is a touchstone for character education lessons.

I found this book quite intriguing. I believe I will keep it in my library. Not sure why, but I just will. It's one of those books you just have to think about and maybe re-read one day.

Very few books deserve all the praise heaped upon them (I could name names, but ...). THIS book deserves every gold star and every joyful review it has received. I say this rarely, but I LOVED this simple, honest, and unsentimental story. Loved it loved it loved it. I won't even part with my copy of the book. I'd caved to the hype and auto-ordered it, and it sat gathering dust (I'd much rather read than do housework!) for a while; one night I cracked it open ... and was smitten. Treat yourself and order it. That is, if you can get any of us Edward devotees to relinquish our copies!

I work at a library, so I read a lot of children's and young adult books. I love this book. It is my favorite children's book. It has amazing illustrations (minature paitings in color). Kate DiCamillo is an excellent writer. I reccomend all her books. I read this whole book in 2-3 hours, waiting for jury duty to start, and I cried several times from emotions in this book. I was trying to wipe away the tears and keep my breathing normal, so no one would notice my crying about a book. I told all 3 of my kids to read it. They all loved it. I buy extra copies and give them to friends and relatives. Enjoyable for all ages: 5 to 105.
