So I'm very confused about this transaction.  A WL book came up, I requested it, the person printed the label and marked it mailed on 9/25.  It was marked canceled on 10/21.  But there is a delivery confirmation event: electronic shipping info received 9/25.  The book was going to time out of the system on 10/23.

So, I don't get it.  Did the person actually mail it and it got lost?  If so, why would they cancel?  And if they didn't mail it, what's the delivery confirmation event mean?  I haven't had this happen before.    Weird.

The sender didn't cancel it-PBS marked it lost automatically.

It could have been mailed and just never scanned.  THat is saying that the # was paid for and generated through PBS but never scanned.  Doesn't mean it wasn't mailed. Deliver Confirmation means just that. Any scans before it's delivered are bonus.  Books frequently get sent in the wrong direction.  If they're sent media mail then the post office is in no hurry to send them in the right direction.

But there is a delivery confirmation event: electronic shipping info received 9/25.  This is not a DC event, it just says that the DC was printed.

The transaction being cancelled 2 days before the system was to mark it lost does seem a bit odd. It's possible the sender asked the site to cancel because they got an empty package back or figured out they didn't/couldn't/wouldn't mail the book. Kind of sucks that it tied up your request for so long, but at least they got it cancelled instead of waiting for the system activity to take care of it.

eta: the dates you listed sounded really familiar to me so I went and checked on one of my transactions and sure enough, even though it had said the system would take action on the 23rd, the system marked it lost last night. Strange. The 26 days work out to be the 21st, but I know the it had said the 23rd on the transaction because I was watching the transaction for any activity and was going to email them today to say that I would not be here to catch a new offer next week so they needed to let me know if they had actually mailed the book.

Oh, wow, so the date for time-out was wrong!  Okay, that makes sense.  I was waiting for the 23rd to come around.  And the DC just means they printed it, so I guess maybe they marked it mailed but never did.  I was thinking the DC note meant it had been scanned somewhere.

Boy, what a long way around to just get thrown back on the WL!   Whew!

Electronic Information Received - merely means that DC has been purchased and a number assigned.  By itself this is no indication whether or not the book was actually mailed.

Since the transaction timed out, you should be returned to the wishlist in your original position.
