I received a PM this morning concerning an audio book I had sent in September of 2009. The fellow PBS member said that disc 4 was missing and is asking for a credit. I was a little miffed especially when I saw that I had sent the audio in September of 2009. What do you advice. I have sent a message back saying I would look but it seemed unlikely that I was any longer responsible in any way and as far as giving her a credit back ................ |

I send a lot of audios and my feeling is: don't refund a credit unless you find the disc. Although I'm thinking you would have seen it by now if you'd forgotten one and I'm also assuming that you would have checked the box before you sent it out. I know when I receive an audio from here, I check all the CDs and if they didn't do that back then then they're out of luck. They've had possession of the thing for 16months and who knows what happened to it in that time. |

A year? Uh, no. That thing has been kicking around his own house for all that time. Who knows who has touched/opened/played it since then?

The receiver is responsible for checking contents before logging the item in as 'received'. Nice of you to look Margaret, but considering the time involved it's no longer your problem. There's really no assigning blame at this point, as the disc could easily have gone missing on the other end. Unless you actually find the missing disc, I wouldn't even consider a credit refund. If the other member persists, refer it to TPTB. |

The receiver is responsible for checking contents before logging the item in as 'received'. I agree. They should have checked the disks upon receiving them. If they didn't check it out then, then they don't deserve a refund. People have to do the bare minimum to protect themselves. Let alone how much time has passed! A couple of days I could see, but over a year? Really? I think that's really unreasonable to even bring it up at this point. |

I concur. After that length of time, there's no way of knowing what happened to the missing disc. I would not refund, receiver should have at least checked that all the discs were there before logging it as received. |
