Read as a Christian romance where a prayer at the end gives a 'happily ever after' it's probably an ok romance in that respect. I really don't expect much from any of these 'skinny series romances' though I read a lot of them(mostly harlequin and silhouette) and am sometimes pleasantly surprised to find a 'keeper' in the pile. This one I enjoyed more for it getting me to 'think' about the issues discussed. A woman is in NY making it in a big time law firm trying to make partner when her mother calles saying her sister and brother in law died overseas(military) and left her guardian of her 2 5 yr old nieces. She's dealing with anger over unresolved issues with her now dead sister, anger over her sister choosing the military when she had children, sister leaving the kids with their mom to begin with and wearing her down, and the whole town expecting her to automatically sacrifice her career so the kids can stay in the small town near the base and 'be happy'. I wish this book were longer and more detailed because I was actually feeling anger right along with the heroine in this one then it just ended. I think the series continues since I started with the 3rd book and enjoyed it enough to go back and get this and the 2nd(haven't read that one yet). there was a lot of struggle with anger and choices here to fit into a book this small IMO but was still a good read.
