I wasn't sure how this book would be as I had never heard of the author before. But I was in for a pleasant surprise! Not only did the book keep my attention but I felt like I was plunged into the middle of the prohibition time period with rum running, soda jerks, and federal agents. It was so interesting and kept me guessing at what would come up next. Things slowly come out to light about people and they can be quite upsetting. I liked Laurie from the start, even when she is covering for her brother. And when Daniel stumbles into her path, or rather bumps into her, I fell for him from that moment. Sweet and kind, he is the exact person you imagine meeting. Of course, he has problems in his past as well. None of them are exempt. Overall a great story that I really enjoyed. Will definitely be looking for more from Karen Barnett.
I received a copy of this book for my review purposes. All thoughts are 100% mine.
