Mona Claus here and I would appreciate your Sleigh decorating help indeed. I should share before my reindeer fly off, that this post is in reference to Trunk or Treat. I am excited to be participating for the first time in Trunk or Treat at my church this October. As an FYI, to those who may not know, Trunk or Treat, is a Christian Faith based alternative to traditional Halloween (of which I am not a fan of).  How it works (as far as I know right now :) is in the church parking lot, there will be two long rows (across from one another) of parked cars. Each grown up participating, gets to decorate their car (in a non -scary theme) focusing especially on the trunk. It is inside the (open) trunk (sleigh extra cargo space :) where treats for the kids will be. The children will collect candy and other treats car to car as opposed to house to house.

Onto my sleigh!:) I have a red car. I have always thought it would be fun to have fun with it and decorate it as Santa's Sleigh. Yes, I do still love the idea of Santa (minus the judgment part). I put up a notice on church bulletin board this last Sunday asking if anyone has those car reindeer antlers and red nose and would allow me to borrow them. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71Uso-FywCL._SY355_.jpg A friend gave me the idea of using Christmassy gift wrap and/or window clings as decorations. I will probably print out a Nativity Scene to put on one window. I could get couple red and green table cloths at Dollar Tree or 99 cent only....I would greatly appreciate any ideas! Besides candy, I (as Mona Claus, more on that in a second) will be handing out Christian pumpkin and also (because I am celebrating Christmas too with my sleigh :D) Christmas Stickers. I was thinking of trying to find a small Christmassy plastic container or two (or three) to put everything in.

I would definitely welcome Mona Claus costume ideas. I am jeans/shorts and a T lady all the way. I do wear fancier (for me) clothes and soon a choir robe, too, for church. Anyway, Mona Claus will be fun to dress up as.  I do have a Santa hat. I was thinking of wearing either red/green bottoms and then the opposite for a top….maybe with a taped on cute image that I printed out from Google….help, lol!

To those of you who have participated in a Trunk or Treat event, I'd love to hear about that :) I will share more specifics as I know them. I'm trying to get a head start.

Thank you. God Bless You.

Thanks, Sophia. :)

I was just looking at the smilie choices on here and not one is a Santa smilie. I am a member of a Disneyland message board where :santa: ='s a smilie santa. We need one of those one here. Maybe a reindeer, lol, too :D

How about a full size red apron with a black belt and large white buttons down the middle above belt or white apron with Mona Claus (written with fabric paint or iron on letters)?? Over your top & pants, of course.

Love the Mona Claus apron ideas, so cute, thank you Kathy! I have both solid color red and green T's. I have neither for bottoms except for pink shorts. Once I figure out a bottom the rest should be a bit easier. I will keep an eye out for red or green or even better (certainly more fun :)  Christmas decorated PJ bottoms. I would be able to wear PJ bottoms for more than one night (thinking money-wise). They would also be a whole lot lighter than say sweats which right now I'd melt in!  I am sure hoping it will cool off soon or lol it'll be back to the North Pole for me! Thank you again, my friend. You have a great and blessed weekend. http://i.123g.us/c/edec_c_hugs/card/113763.gif

Small update to share I found at Michael's today some bright green glow in the dark fabric paint. I will use that to write Mona Claus on either a red apron or red shirt. Thank you again Kathy for the apron idea! LarkspurJane suggested the paint. Never thought of glow in the dark till I saw it. I also got at Michaels some red socks with white snowballs, ornaments, Minnie's white circles whatever you'd rather think of them as :) The socks have a green heel and green toe. They had a green top cuff but sock picky me cut that off as I do not like tight sock elastic. I did hear back from church newsletter lady and she is going to double check it would be okay to put in my reindeer antler and red nose request for next week and get back to me.

I have appreciated so much all of your ideas and suggestions! Keep 'em coming, lol :)

ETA: Mona Claus is lol coming along. I got at Kmart today on clearance a pair of bright red pants for only $4.99 plus tax.  I will be able to wear them regular to church or wherever to so that was more of a longer term investment as well as for Mona Claus. I also may give in and get on Oriental Trading an adorable Christmassy apron that can be personalized so it could say Mona Claus on it. It's expensive for me at almost $14 but I am not finding any red aprons out here and don't have a true red shirt. We shall see. :)

Sunday hugs!

I have appreciated all your cheer Sophia for sure :)

I just found out my antler/red nose request will be part of tomorrow's church newsletter. Lol, the article will start out, "Do you have antlers and a big red nose?" :) Hopefully someone does indeed and will let me borrow for my car. Will keep all of you posted and thank you all for your support and ideas any other car decorating ideas please do let me know. I'm not finding much of any Christmasmasy stuff yet. One thing though is I will be able to save some things to be prepared for next year should Mona Claus make a comeback :) Happy Tuesday everyone. P.S. We really need a Santa smiley on here! P.S. I just got the Mona Claus apron :)

Trunk or Treat  (T or T) was last night and it was fun. Not quite what I expected in terms of being more about the littlest of kids and somewhat faith based (it wasn't) but that's okay. I enjoyed meeting new folks and seeing smiles :) The church teens had a sleepover following T or T and so there were a lot of older kids there. The trunk or treaters came in waves over a 2 hour period. I handed out candy and stickers. Being Mona Claus was fun too and lol bringing Christmas to Church in October :)

Thank you all of you for your help and RAOK's. I appreciate so much all of your friendships and care.

My Sleigh? I learned that T or T works with two rows of cars (trunks facing the same way) within a wide distance from one another (my church as a big parking lot). The children walk within the circle and don't go in front of the cars at all. Some did notice the antlers, grown ups did. Pastor Bob (he and his wife bought me the antlers and red nose) may have bene the only person who saw the nose. Next year antlers would do better as was suggested to me on the back windows and the nose on the trunk. Same with other decorations.

I'm glad I got to partcipate :)
