It's an ok book. The typical kind of strong willed, stubborn heroine vs. a seemingly cold and ruthless hero. What kind of hit me was that it was so similar to the plot of The Bride by Julie Garwood. Same kind of forced "kidnapping" and then hero who eventually warms up with the stubborn, innocent, strong willed heroine. Only major difference is one has werewolves while the other does not. Though, don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, they both were unique stories in themselves.

If you are looking for more of a Scot/Eng pairing and with a more realistic kind of twist, than go for The Bride. If you're looking for more supernatural and werewolf-ing, then by all means, Moon Awakening is wonderful.

It started out great and had good character developement. I just wish the story had ended with more of a punch then it did. Overall it was good. I do look forward to if this is a series and reading the rest of them.

I usually love Lucy Monroe but I think she needs to stick to what she knows best - contemporary romance. NOT her finest work.

A fresh take on the paranormal genre by adding a historical element. An enjoyable, fun read!

This is a good story. Emily is sent to Scotland, to marry the Head of a Scottish Clan. However, they do not feel anything for each other. Emily and the Laird's sister are kidnapped by a rival clan. What Emily doesn't know is that the people of this area are werewolves. This is a good book. It is funny and entertaining. I enjoyed it. I would read a sequel if it came out.

Fans of Lucy Monroe will certainly enjoy her entry into the paranormal field with Moon Awakening. It is a fast read which has all the elements I really like, a feisty heroine, a shape shifting hero and an introduction to the world of the Chrechtes. This is indicated as book one of the Children of the Moon so I expect that there will be more to come.

I really liked this book. Fast read. Not too deep, enjoyable. Good BEACH read. Hero is likable in an alpha male kind of way. Two stories loves going on at once, which I like. Remains to be seen how author will pull these together for the next book but the 1st hints at the story line for the 2nd.

I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this book. I've read her other stuff and some are really good while others are okay. I am just getting into historic romance and loved the paranormal elements.

I really liked Emily. I thought her doubts about herself and her worth would start to get on my nerves but it didn't. I fully sympathized with her feelings. She was so sassy plus I loved it when she got caught doing something naughty (like peeking at other naked men). Her curiousity made me laugh. Lachlan was great. Alpha male all the way. At first you weren't sure if he was going to be a good guy or bad which was nice. (I didn't read the backcover of the book so I didn't know who the stars were). There was some fun and sweet components to their relationship I appreciated.

The only thing I would change would be the mating rules. They were a bit confusing and hard to follow. I think that has to do with the writing more than the rules actually being confusing.

It wasn't a deep book by any means. You can guess who the bad guy was after a while but it was still a very good, easy read. The little bit of mystery thrown in always kept things interesting. The language took a little bit to get used to but if you are used to historical romance, I'm sure it would be no problems.

I'll definitely continue reading the series.

I really liked this book. If you like Julie Garwood's historicals (The Wedding, The Bride, The Secret) than you will probably like this book as it has similar undertones. I'm not saying it's as good as those books, mind you, but similar...and being that those are probably at the top of my favorites-of-all-time list, it was nice to read something similar. Now obviously, there is the whole werewolf dimension to these books, which I also liked (but I like paranormal romance a lot).

The only annoying thing about this book was the female lead. She got on my nerves sometimes, but not too badly or I wouldn't have given it 4 stars. If you are like me and you like historicals in the same vein as Garwood AND you like paranormal (I love Feehan and J.R. Ward) than you will probably like this book. The paranormal culture and characters are not NEARLY as developed in this book as they are in the Carpathian/Black Dagger Brotherhood books, but it was good enough for me to keep this book (and the rest of the series) on my keeper list.

Long story short: if you like historicals, books with a paranormal twist, and more alpha male leads, you will probably like this book. And as a bonus, I thought book 2 was even better.

Very good start to Children of the Moon series. Laughter, tears, romance and studly men in kilts. What's not to like.

Scottish werewolves in kilts! Eh, maybe I would have liked this better had I read this when it was first published (2007). I was a different reader then and my tolerance for bullshit was better(?) or worse(?) then now. This has kidnapping (check), forced marriage (check), lavender eyes (check), and alpha males (check). I surprised Cait and Emily didn't have have to ask permission to go take a shit. Oh wait, they probably did. I despise men like this in real life and on the page.
But, this did fulfill some challenge requirements so I stuck with it.
