This is a good old-fashioned sci-fi novel from the 60s. While sometimes short on the science, it is a very entertaining story about man's first efforts to conquer the Moon. The hero is a young man who was first on the Moon and has become a hero to everyone except the serious spacemen who are trying to promote space exploration.

As a result, he meets with contempt from those whose friendship he desires the most. He tries to win their respect and finds this is much harder than he thinks, especially since it appears that he is up to his old glory-hunting antics as always.
