Hot-shot missionary Powers Stivell, a young jungle veteran, leads an expedition into the remote mountains of Papua New Guinea. With him are co-ed and would-be missionary Pamela Carpenter and renegade journalist Roy Williams. From the outset, delays and setbacks plague the trio, their guide Yalu, and a handful of carriers and assistants. The three begin to have serious reservations as their one link to survival, their guide Yalu, begins to act like anything but a trustworthy guide.

This is fast-paced suspense writing at its best--with a spiritual twist--told by a first-rate adventure writer who has himself experienced rugged journeys into the interior of Papua New Guinea.
