Summary:
Prince Corin has fallen in love with a commoner named Tam. The two must keep their love a secret because a prince cannot marry someone of such low standing, but it is sure to come out sooner or later. While the two of them are working on their romance, a war is about to break out in their land. They must free the dragons and learn about their own powers in order to save their home of Caithen.

My thoughts:
Leonard has given us a lot of description. The world building is superb. There is so much about the Empire that is shared, that I really could picture the place. The characters are also fully described. We learn about them as we read through the story, so there isn't a lot of front loaded information, but I did feel connected to Tam and Corin. Their romance is the strength of the book. Leonard spends a lot of time building their relationship even though it begins rather suddenly. If you aren't a fan of the lovey dovey, then you probably won't enjoy this novel. As a fantasy novel, it is lacking the fast paced adventure. While there are adventures and the quest to save the dragons is important, it definitely takes a back seat to Tam and Corin's love.
