I loved this book! I've only read a couple of stories in anthologies and one other book to date by this author(smart mouth) but this one I really really enjoyed. The woman is deaf and rich and one of a con man's many targets. The undercover cop happens to be the name the con man is using(he uses cop's names on his victims) and the couple is atracted to each other. Hot sex and great humor..I was laughing in many places in this one! Add in a few twists and turns and a surprise near the end and this was a great read I'd recommend if you're looking for a hot and funny/silly read.

Another great one. This is the story of Laurel who is deaf and thinking she is meeting someone she can go wild with and Russ who is the cop she meets and finds out she hasn't been talking with him online but a con man. Russ doesn't like long term relationships and Laurel just wants a wild time-he gives it to her and so much more. I really love these books and Ms. McCarthy......looking forward to more.

I think this is her first book, and its good. McCarthy improves with every book, of course, so it was hard for me, as a new fan reading her latest, to go back to the beginning of her career, but I was not disappointed. Worth the time if you are a fan of hers.

Laurel Wilkins is a very sweet and innocent woman who is tired of being lonely. She starts chatting with a man online and he asks her to meet him for coffee. Officer Russ Evans has been tracking a con man who is befriending lonely "plain janes" with money, online, then bedding them and finally stealing their money on his way out of town. Detective Evans has learned that Laurel is the next target for Trevor Dean, and hopes to arrest him when he shows to meet Laurel. When Dean doesn't show, Detective Evans goes into the coffee shop to get a peek at the woman, and is immediately taken by her beauty. She thinks that he is the man she is supposed to meet, and calls out to "Russ", the name that the con man has been using. After he finally explains who he is and why he is there, Laurel agrees to help the Detective catch this con man.

Russ can't believe that he is so taken by this woman, but he just can't seem to stay away from her. When she confesses to him that the only reason that she went online to meet someone was because she "just wanted to have sex" and she didn't know anyone because she is deaf and just doesn't go out. He knows he need to keep her safe--and keep his hands off, no matter mutual the attraction might be. He has no desire to have a relationship, but she is 100% tempting.

This was just a cute and steamy quick read. I really did love the characters, as I did in all of Ms. McCarthy's other books. This story gave you some insight into the problems of being hearing-impared. Good book--5 stars

Very enjoyable book which I couldn't put down. The story has depth. Whereas the main story may be about Russ and Laurel attempting to catch a crook while developing feelings for each other, there were other things going on between other characters and they are interconnected and wonderfully told. Erin McCarthy is the best for a reason.
