I have been following the progress of the books on my Wish List.  For one particular book, I was in 15th place, maybe for about 2 weeks now.  This morning I checked again and I was in 16th place.  Why did this happen? As I have been typing this, perhaps I have an answer to my question.  Maybe someone received a copy of this book and marked it RWP.  In that case they would go back to the top of the list, wouldn't they?  Any other reasons for moving backward in place or could this be a Paperbackswap hiccup?

remember if someone has their account on vacation hold that was ahead of you and they take it off vacation hold it will push you back in line...as they maintain their place.

Oh, I didn't even think of vacation holds, Christy.  Thanks.  I was pretty confused when I saw I was moving backwards.  Only for one book though.

You're numbers probably constantly fluctuate you just don't notice it most times.  Because when people put their account on hold it keeps them in line but removes them from the count. So everyone after them in line moves up a notch while they're on hold and then back a notch when they unhold.  If it's a actively posted book you can move up and down a few places between vacation holds, books going lost, RC's being declined, RWPs etc...,

It seems like there's a lot of holding going on lately...maybe because of holiday prep/travel.  I follow my WL pretty closely, and I've had one drop to 113 and jump back up to 117 a couple of days later.

I have question, where can I see what number I am?  I see the number of members wishing but I thought that was total people not my number in the list.

Just hover your mouse over the grey exclamation point and it will tell you your position in the WL line :)

Yeah, vacation holds can play withthe numbers quite a bit. I had my account on hold for Oct/Nov, and when I went "off" hold I had 3 WL books come up that I wasn't very close to before. I'm on hold again for the holidays now, I just get too busy and don't want to overlook a book request in the madness of Christmas stuff!

Something I've discovered is that when I go to my WL I might be 2/5 on a book, but if I go to the title of that book and look at it where I can "Post", "Order", etc., the number of people who are wishing for the book is a different number.  It might only show 3 wishing.  (I've found that the number of wishers here is usually smaller than the number on my WL).  Don't know why and it doesn't bother me, but just something I noticed.  I'm guessing that my WL is updated more quickly thant the area where the books are posted.  Pat
