Do I have to alert the post office if I want to move my mailbox further up the road?

We will be moving our driveway when we get the house finished.  When that happens, we would like for the mailbox to be at the end of it.   DH was wondering if we have to fill out paperwork....or just do it and see what happens.  Surely the maillady would notice...we aren't a big street.  It actually dead ends past us a bit.

My advice would be to contact the PO, Jennifer. You're supposed to have their approval. They have requirements as to where it's supposed to go (which side of the driveway, etc.) There usually isn't any paperwork involved.

Yes, usually the Post Master or supervisor needs to approve the moving of the mailbox. Atleast here they do,especially for rural routes.

Yep if you don't they will find some regulation you didn't do and make you move it.

as long as it the in the same general location you will not be affected by the established mail delivary regulation. I would still inform them but as long as you keep it on the street and don't move it to your house you should be good.
