The owner of the Neptune Grand, the swankiest hotel in Neptune, California, hires Veronica Mars to investigate an assault in one of the hotel rooms. Grace Manning was found raped, beaten, and left for dead. Surveillance cameras show her entering the hotel, but never leaving. An arrest was never made. Grace doesn't remember much about the circumstances; but is suing the hotel for damages. Now they've hired Veronica to prove or disprove her allegations.

This is the second book in the Veronica Mars series. Unlike the first book, Kristen Bell does not narrate the audiobook. Rebecca Lowman does a decent job with the narration, but I still miss listening to the real Veronica Mars. The mystery was okay, but the story seemed to meander. There was a second investigation where Veronica's father, Keith Mars, was digging up information on the corrupt sheriff's department. I liked this part of the story until it came to an unsatisfying conclusion. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
