I was very excited to see a sequel to Rebecca. Rebecca has been one of my all time favorite books. What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Du Maurier would be sick if she knew her beloved story had been so besmirched. The characters in this book have no resemblance whatsoever to the characters in Rebecca. Mrs De Winter at the end of Rebecca had become confident in herself and in her husband. The woman in Ms. Hill's story is a neurotic, spineless basket case. Ms Hill's Maxim has lost all his charm and is an ill-mannered buffoon. She has wasted her time and the readers' with this ridiculous drivel. (But I'm sure she made a nice little commission from all of Rebecca's Fans!!) Don't waste your time or your Credits. Can I give it Negative Stars?

I enjoyed the book and it continues in the style of Du Maurier. Closed some of the ending.

Susan Hill does an excellent job with her sequel to "Rebecca." You could easily believe it's the original author. The same suspense, love of nature, interesting characters & uneasiness prevail. I hated the ending, however. If you liked "Rebecca," you must read this!
