The lady vanishes - this time from the finest nursing home in Taviscombe. With no evidence of foul play, Mrs. Sheila Malory has only suspicions about her old friend's fate. So she uses her skills as an amateur sleuth to nose around the widow's secrets. And there Mrs. Malory makes the discovery that her old friend would be better off dead for a surprising number of people. Her greedy daughter, her son who needs large sums of cash and the family of her gravely ill sister who would get a fat windfall if Edith should die first. A good cozy - a charmer.
Book #3 in the Mrs. Malory cozy series - well written, authentic- Agatha Christie meets Angela Thirkell. A very good read.
This is actually the 4TH in the Mrs. Malory mystery series, NOT the 3rd as stated in another PBS review for this book. The 3rd in the series is actually "Mrs. Malory and the Festival Murder".
Enjoyed this cozy mystery very, very much. Great story.
When Sheila. Malory's friend disappears without a trace from a nursing home, there are so many people who would benefit financially from her death that the only question is which one made off with the old lady. With rumors about a stash of sleeping pills, and argument and the appearance of a mysterious man and woman, it takes all Sheila's wits to discover what really happened. A delightful cozy read!
