This is a charming book. It's a must read for anyone who likes Charleston or gardening.
It's more than just a gardening book. Mrs. Whaley is a true original and this book is about her family, her history, cooking, bringing up children, and her thoughts on life in general. One of the first lines in the book is from one of her daughters "My god, you have an opinion about everything". Well, she does, and they're opinions worth listening to.
