I have a book that does not have a 10-digit ISBN, but inside the book on the copyright page there are two (2) 13-digit ISBN's. The first ISBN is not listed in the PBS system at all and I would need to set it up. The second ISBN number is in the system with a different cover and 10 people on the WL waiting for it - it is the same author, same summary, same publisher, etc. Am I OK posting this book under the second ISBN or should I post and define the book by the first ISBN??? Thanks, RKE (ETA - I hit the "return" too fast.)

I've seen multiple ISBN's within the same book, though labled, to show that one is for the hardcover and one for the paperback.  I've posted a book that had a 10 digit unknown to the system but a 13 digit that matched perfectly. When you post a book the system asks if your book matches at least one of the ISBN's, the 10 or 13 digit.  If your book matches the author, title, and binding (paperback or hardcover) and 13 digit ISBN listed in the summary I would say that's a match   However, I'm an expert on neither ISBN's nor posting books to the Swap so I'd also say wait for a few others to respond to your question just in case, but it sounds like you've got a wishlisted book to me.

Does the book have a bar code scanner on the outside?  If so, that number should be your 13 digit ISBN number.  I would feel that if the book matched the 4 key required items I would post it that way.

Questions per the Help Center to verify before you post... Do the Title, Author, ISBN and Book Type match your book EXACTLY?

By different cover do you mean art? Because the binding type needs to match. Read the copyright information around the ISBNs and make sure it is for your book. I have had them that list all the ISBNs of that publisher and some of them were clearly wrong because were for other binding types or other editions of the book with update information.

If the full Title, Author, and Binding match, and the book doesn't specify which ISBN to use, then you are OK to post the book.
