While I don't usually write a review for the "Murder, She Wrote" mysteries, I do rate them. I enjoy them, but regard them as light mysteries. However, for this one I saw a mistake on page 42 which really shocked me...

"But when Jefferson Davis, secretary of war in Lincoln's first cabinet..." What!!!!!!!

This is like saying, "When Adolph Hitler, secretary of war in Franklin Roosevelt's first cabinet...."

Jefferson was president of the Confederacy during the American Civil War, and, as such, was Lincoln's enemy, as well as the enemy of the United States. However, Davis was secretary of war in President Franklin Pierce's administration (March 1853---March 1857).

Obviously, someone didn't do their homework (research).

As far as the story itself goes, this one was very different from previous books in the series, as not all concerns are wrapped up in the end, and may never be.

If you are a fan of this series, you will enjoy this book. If you haven't read anything in this series, you can start here. The books do not have to be read in any particular order. Fletcher writes an easy to follow book and she includes new, as well as recurring characters from her home town of Cabot Cove, Maine. All involve a murder without the blood and gore that is the style of some authors. She writes a good clean book that is perfect for the plane, pool, beach or just about anywhere. Enjoy!
