The strangling of the Secretary of State in the Lincoln Bedroom is a first. White House counsel Ron Fairbanks is ordered to investigate. The investigation takes many interesting turns and the solution is a surprise. Margaret Truman uses her knowledge of Washington, D.C. to write a wonderful mystery.

I liked this first book in the "Capital Crimes Series". I enjoyed meeting the characters as well as trying to figure out who killed Blaine. I look forward to reading the next book, Murder on Capitol Hill.

First in the series, 1980. The Secretary of State is killed in the White House; the President appoints his inexperienced Junior Counsel to head up the investigation.

In my opinion, one of the better ones in the series. The killer was not a surprise, but rather an interesting twist. I recommend this book.

Well ... I was hoping for something much more fun than this book! I felt like I plodded through it. The book was well-written, but staid. It was written in 1980, so perhaps "funny" cozy mysteries weren't being written then. I almost didn't finish it, but felt obligated, since the author is Former President Truman's granddaughter.

Interesting plot. Character development wasn't strong enough for me. Good plot twist, but if you want something fun to read or something that will grab you, this book is NOT it!
