One of the better horror/crime novel that I have ever read,, I read this book in a evening I could not put it down...A great book to read
A gripping horror/crime novel about a young boy, an old man & a beautiful women caught up in a labyrinth tale of family relationships & murder.
"Mystery" is his best. Tom and his grandfather Lamont, experience an immediate, subliminal meeting of mind and spirit, though Tom does not become cognizant of their kinship for quite some time. I have to confess to some confusion in some sections of the plot, but it plays itself out with subtlety and holds one's interest to the end.
A brilliant, young boy is almost killed. As he grows up, he becomes obsessed with death and particularly two unsolved mysteries.
One of the best mysteries I've ever read. Good twists!
While this may not be my usual type of reading as of now, it is likely that Peter Straub will join my ever-growing list of "must read" authors.
The characters are different yet totally believable. The locals are strange to me but again, totally believable and finely drawn.
I felt almost as if I could smell the bad smells, see the beautiful things, hear the people talk!
I highly recommend this book to all who can deal with more than the lightest of reading.
An offbeat sort of book, rated as horror but more a murder mystery.
