When the know-it-all, mischievous Scottish lad Owen MacDonald finds an old book, "Nogard Eci's Tome of Mythical Creatures and Artifacts," in his well traveled Uncle's footlocker he does not realize that he and his sister Erin's adventures, and troubles are just beginning.
Their troubles really begin when they are swept off their father's Loch Ness tour boat during a dark, dangerous, unnatural? storm. Adrift and unconscious in the water, Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster must make a decision, swallow the children and bring them to the land of Mythatania via a tunnel at the bottom of the Loch, or allow them drown. She decides to transport them to the wondrous world of Mythatania, where all creatures heard of in myth and folklore have gone to escape the outside world. Planning on returning the youngsters back to their world after the storm subsides, Nessie is confounded as Erin and Owen's father, sure that Nessie has devoured his children, drops dynamite across Loch Ness and thus, the tunnel is collapsed. Erin and Owen must now find another way home.
In Mythatania, the siblings meet up with sons and daughters of the Elders Council whom preside over the "Good" creatures of Mythatania. The children have been dubbed by the Great Sphinx as; "The Mythfits." Erin and Owen join Unee, a bossy Unicorn, Pegora, a level-headed Pegasus, Frost, an A.D.D. Yeti, and Salandra, a large, yet girlie Sasquatch as they endeavor on a magical adventure and quest to return Ulee the Great's (Unee's great-grandfather) Golden Unicorn Horn from the lair of the fearsome creature, Nogard Eci. The Golden Horn was the price paid for entrance to Mythatania, causing the Unicorn's horns to glow golden no more.
Their advantage in fact is the book Owen carries, "Nogard Eci's Tome of Mythical Creatures and Artifacts," which describes all the creatures of Mythatania. "Moan the Minotaur" and his dark minions will stop at nothing to get the book, destroy the good creatures of Mythatania and begin a conquest of the outside world.
Was Owen and Erin's participation in the adventure foretold and meant to be? Will friendship and trust shine through and save the day? Will the Unicorn horn glow golden once again and unite the good creatures against Moan and his evil minions? Time will tell as harsh decisions will have to be made, amid Trolls, Ogres, newfound friends and allies as the "Mythfits" plus two embark on their adventure.
