I had to start a new thread.  Here goes!

She was nude before him.  There was a moment when she blinked and began to feel vulnerable, but then he put his mouth to her nipple and licked.  She started.  A low, hoarse sound came from her throat.  He licked her other nipple like a cat.  Slow, lanquid strokes that rasped over her nerve endings.  He made a sound almost like a purr, furthering the illusion that he was a big predator savoring the taste of her skin.  His mouth never leaving her breast, he picked her up and laid her on the bed and her thoughts scattered.  He ran his hands down her bare sides and taking hold of her thighs, he parted them widely.  He settled his hips against her as if he had every right.  His manhood lay on her feminine flesh and he ground down in small circular motions so that her inner lips parted.  She could feel him - big and thick and there.

Sounds good, but need some tips here.  At the risk of sounding ignorant, what exactly is the significance of "meat and potatoes?"

Cute way to put it, but I think I prefer a bit of appetizer before the main course.   Actually, sometimes the appetizer is the best part ;-D

I'll post another excerpt when I get home tonight.  A hint - it's the first book in a series and in the scene above he doesn't know it's the heroine.

Claudia, I didnt imply that *I* prefer meat and potatoes sex. Just that the except *sounded* like meat and potatoes.

However, with the hint, I can see that the excerpt is the first sex scene in The Raven Prince. It's heavily edited tho.

The only book I can remember featuring swing sex is Lord of Sin by Madeline Hunter and that doesn't sound like her.

Jess,

I wasn't making inferences regarding your preferences, just stating my own.

No idea on the excerpt; need tips.  I know I've never read this.

No on Thea Devine or Hunter.

It's the first book in a series. I know this author has been read by quite a few of you but maybe not this specific book. She does have a nice sized backlist.

Okay, last set of clues and then I give up.

1. the author was recently #2 on the NY Times Bestseller List

2. author has written under 3 pen names

3. Again, this is the first book of a 5 book series and twins are heroes in two of the books.

Catherine Coulter?  Perhaps another quote would spark some memories?  I'm too lazy at work at the moment to try and do any actual searching based on your clues! lol  Maybe when I get home.

I may not have Internet access tomorrow, so if I'm right Jessica should take the next turn, since she guessed Jeffries first.

Alright, here's my contribution:

As his mouth slanted over hers again, S boldly gave him every opportunity.  He dragged one honeyed kiss after another from her lips until she was breathless and longing and he was panting with need.  She was hardly aware when his hips began to move against hers in a dance even more provocative than the onethey had shared in the ballroom. But there was no ignoring the waves of pleasure that began to fan out from her lower body.  She gasped into his mouth as he rubbed himself against the aching mound between her legs.  It was both shocking and thrilling to finally feel that part of him so clearly outlined beneath his britches, to know exactly what he wanted to do to her with it. Her knees fell apart beneath her skirt.  His hand cupped her there, seeking to reach her through thethick layers of wool and linen.

S moaned and writhed benath his rough petting, stunned by how shameless she'd become, how hot she burned for the caress of his fingers against her bare flesh.  When he withdrew his hand, she wanted to cry out with disappointment.  But then she felt it slide beneath her skirt.  His fingers glided over the wool of her stocking and past her garter to find the silky flesh of her inner thigh witha tender urgency she could not resist.

When she felt his fingertips graze the curls between her thighs, S buried her face against her throat seized by a sudden and unbearable shyness.  His touch was no longer rough, but exquisitely tender.  His fingers licked at her swollen flesh like living flames, melting her every misgiving in a heated rush of nectar.

G groaned, "If I knew I could just get under those demure skirts of yours, I could prove you weren't made of ice.  Melt for me, angel," he whispered, ravishing her ear with his tongue even as he slipped his longest finger deep into that honeyed softness. She moaned as her body shuddered helplessly around the probing thickness ofhis finger, a wanton thing no longer under her control. She had always known he had the reputation of being a skilled lover, but she hadn't realized thathe would know her body better than she did, that he would be capable of focusing soley on her pleasure to the exclusion of his own.

He added another finger to his exploration, gently stretching her, spreading her, even as the pad of his thumb brushed back and forth over the ridgid nubbin of flesh at the crux of her damp curls, teasing it to throbbing delight.  His deft fingers continued to pleasure her until she was writhing and whimpering, nearly incoherent with a need she had never known she possessed.  A wave of dark bliss swelled over her head.  As it broke, sending a primal ectasy spilling through her body in a restless tide, he kissed her hard, capturing her broken cry in his mouth.

I can tell from my reaction to this that it's an author I think is crap.

Um. . . . Suzanne Enoch?

Maybe Kat Martin but probably Suzanne Enoch.
