Here we go! Thursday, Sept. 8
Sunday, Sept. 11
Monday, Sept 12
Hard to believe it has been 15 years since 9/11. Every year since then I have watched the replay MSNBC does of the Today show broadcast from that morning. Lots of luck! Hope all our teams do great this year! It'll be interesting to see how NE does without Tom Brady for the first four games, (sigh) But Jimmy Garapollo seems to be doing okay. It is going to be odd and sad not to see Peyton Manning playing. Although you can see him in the NFL Sunday Ticket commercials. Pretty cute, 'Peyton on Sunday Morning.' I'm sure you've seen it. Too funny.
How we did:
Week one is always a crap shoot. :)

I agree. I watch those specials every year too, even though it is still upsetting to see it unfold. Most surreal day of my life. My husband is a NYC ironworker and we had no cell phones back then & it took hours for him to call me & longer for him to get home. The things he saw at ground zero were so horrific, it would be over a year before he could tell me. Before then he would just say it was very, very bad. But there were some really good things to happen afterwards. Like the patriotism & first NFL game (with your Patriots) & everyone being so kind to each other. OH well, enough of that. Football is back, baby! Woohoo! GOod luck everyone.

Came back to change my DEN pick to CAR. I forgot they didn't have Osweiler but have a rookie qb. |

Well that last minute edit was a big mistake. lol. Cyn - I just read and saw a photo of those sweet looking cleats. Don't know if any of you get the NFL channel, but they do football specials called "The Timeline" and this week it's about the NFL & 9/11. I watched it last night & it got me get a little misty eyed. It was very well done. |

Hi Bettyjean do u mean nfl network? Yes I do get that channel. Thx for the tip on the show. I'll ck it out! I have a rare weekend off so gonna actually chill at home & catch up with my dvr & reading. I also sent Alex a message on Facebook with the picks for this week so if he answers me in time I will post on his behalf. I received a response from Alex & unfortunately he's respectively declining regarding the football picks. On an up note he says hi & wishes us the best. Plus Go Bills! So sorry about your bears Cyn. I know how bad it stinks losing that first game of the season. (Giants have done it many times, incl last year). Congrats Joy! What a game that was - such an exciting finish! Your QB did pretty darn good too. I think NE is going to be just fine without Brady for these next few games. As for us, I truly thought we had no chance but we got lucky at the end there, It was so nice seeing Cruz get a td after all he's been through. Lots of great games today, some real heartbreakers too. So glad that football is back. |

Bettyjean if that game would've ended at halftime I would've been happy. Lol I enjoyed the Cruz salsa too! Joy Grappello did awesome for ur team! I think he actually looks alittle like my son. Back to 9/11 and to ur hubby being an iron worker. I'm sure it was devastating for him & ur family. I still seem to see footage on tv that I haven't seen before & it's hard to watch. I'd like to go one day & see the memorial. |

Well, I messed up on the Denver/Carolina game as well. Rookie QB did a super job. All the sportcasters in NE having been moaning about the fact that the first 4 games without Brady would be four straight losses. Jimmy Garapollo sure put that to rest. Great game! :) Cindy, I am sorry about the Bears. But on to next week! Bettyjean, loved that the Giants won their first game. It was wonderful to see that salsa dance by Cruz again. I think he should take that act to Dancing with the Stars one of these days. |

Off on a 9/11 subject ~ did you notice that President Obama did not observe the moment of silence outside of the White House with all the staff, etc.? I was really disappointed in that and in him. This has been done for 14 years, to me it is a reassuring thing to see this each year. And on the 15th anniversary, too. Don't know why this came about. Sure wasn't the weather. Bettyjean, I also always put a candle in my window the first couple days before and after 9/11. |

Joy I think we all messed up when it came to the CAR/DEN game. My son was shocked I didn't pick the Broncos considering their my 2nd fav team. I didn't think the newbie QB would do good. And good idea Cruz should b on DWTS! I might just watch it then. Lol I didn't realize that about Obama but I'm truly not a big political person. Well I sure would watch Dancing with the Stars if any of my players were on it. I just hope it's never Eli. I don't know why, but I don't think he's a good dancer. lol. That is such a sweet thing you do to light a candle for 9/11, Joy. And congratulations on winning week #1! Last Edited on: 9/14/16 11:20 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
