I've heard some good things about a The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Has anyone here read it? What do you think? Is it overhyped, or is it really that good?

Personally, I enjoyed it. The only drawback is that the second book isn't due out until April of 2009. You may want to wait to read the first one.

I pre-ordered the MMPB and got it in the mail last week. I am really looking forward to reading it! |

It's been dubbed one of the best fantasy books ever written. And with good reason. This book is beyond awesome! I am on the edge of my seat for the next installment. |

I started reading this last night and although I am only about 120 pages in so far, I am LOVING it. It has the perfect "feel" to it. I am already completely sucked into the world and Kvothe's tale. Now I am kicking myself for starting it because I know I will have to wait a year to read the next book!
Just as a side note, this is the first book I have bought new in several years. The reviews just sounded so good, I had to pre-order the PB. If this one ends up being as good as I think it will be, I will have to pre-order the next one in HB.... if I can get the money anyway. I lost my job last week so money is super tight. Then again I guess I DO have a year to come up with it! |

We've named this book our favorite of 2007 at FanLit.net, so I highly recommend it. Here are a few reviews: http://www.fantasyliterature.net/rothfusspatrick.html |

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I bought the book a couple weeks ago, and just finished it last night, and yes, it is awesome! It's beautifully written, and a compelling tale. And yes, it sucks to have to wait until 2009 for the next installment. :-P

Someone has already listed book 3 in the system... there are only about three wishers so far. Get there early!! The lines for book 1 and 2 are pretty big...
