I have not read the book but watched the movie last night and enjoyed it.  My DD read the book and saw the movie and did not care for the movie at all.  Said it did not do the book justice.

Opinions?  I just moved this book to the top of my TBR pile.

I was disappointed in the movie as well.  The book created an athmosphere that just didn't convey well on film.  Plus, the scope of the story really couldn't all be fit into the 2-hour format.  I felt Jacinda Barrett was ill-cast as Max, and the character of Gogol was sold short.

Read the book - it's a beautiful work, and one I have recommended many times.  I have a copy on my Keeper shelf, and I generally don't like fiction.

I thought the book and movie were both very good, but neither one blew me away.  The book's ending was a bit disjointed for me, whereas the movie put it all in better focus at the end.  Kal Penn is also kinda hot!  :)

I really liked the book much better than the movie.  Since you liked the movie, I think you'll really enjoy the book.  There was no way to squeeze everything into the movie.  :)

Yay! I've had the book on my WL for awhile but just found it at a thrift store. I watched the movie and was eager to read the book anyway. Now with these recommendations it is climbing to the top of my pile. I'm kinda glad I watched the movie first because I enjoyed it and it sounds like I would have been disappointed if I'd read the book first.

This is just such a great place to get the real 'skinny' on books and movies :)

This is definitely an awesome book!  I listened to it on audio and really enjoyed it.  I don't think the movie could convey the depth of the book.

I'm going to the cabin this weekend and am bringing it along.  Looking forward to a good read!

Loved it!  I was so sad when it ended.  Has anyone read Interpreter of Maladies?
