On the whole, this was a very enjoyable graphic novel. The plot was fun, fast-paced and engaging, and Andrew Ritchie's artwork gives it a certain surrealism that really fits the story well. It gives a very interesting version of the origins of Alshazred and the Necronomicon I've never seen anywhere else, but I haven't read everything in the Mythos.

I think the only criticism I'd make is that Messner-Loebs put too many characters from various Lovecraft stories. That felt a little forced, but I still would recommend this book for fans of the Cthulhu Mythos and the Mythos-themed comics Boom! Studios has been producing.
