I would have to say that this book is not for everyone. It's about the Plumbs who are a crazy and dysfunctional family waiting until the youngest is 40 so they can inherit their nest of money. I found the siblings to be well-developed characters that are very believable but also very flawed. They lie, cheat and steal but you still find yourself wondering what will happen to each of them. There is a lot of dark humor and lots of surprises along the way that keep you interested. I can really see a movie in the making from this book. As I have said in the beginning of my review, these shallow characters are not for everyone but if you love family sagas, then I suggest you give it a try. I would definitely look to read more from this author, as I found this debut interesting. What I have taken away from this book is: In the end, you just have to accept your family for who and what they are.

I found this book thoroughly engrossing, with rich character development and enough drama in the lives of the characters to make them interesting and colorful. Couldn't put it down.

The tale of the 4 Plumb siblings and how money, or lack of it, has defined their lives. The Plumb siblings were promised by their late father a sum of money that they have termed "the nest" upon the youngest turning 40 years old. Each one of the siblings has fallen upon hard times and has built the money up in their minds as their saving grace. What happens when that money is used to bail out one of the siblings from a dire situation. Making the money no longer available to the others. Chaos. Hatred. Greed. A very interesting read. Not very happy, but gives you great insight into a large dysfunctional family-no one is perfect, but sibling rivalry can be brutal. Going to be a good book club discussion.

multiple personality disorder
If you read it, you will understand within one chapter.
If you like this sort of story, than I recommend it to you, but if this particular type of story is not your preferred read, I am positive you won't be won over by reading this. I wasn't.
It's not uninteresting. That's the absolutely best thing I have to say about it.
Sort of like an average life...not according to plan, disjointed, self-absorbed, bittersweet, somewhat sad & moving on.
