Our Christian life is our own to hold up to our Lord. It says 'Nevermind the Jones'. How true! Why should we be like everyone else? We are Christians and WE have to own up to the Lord. If we are chasing after materialism, how good a christain are we? We owe it to our Lord to live our lives in a good way, a Christian way. By going after materialism does NOT fit the Lord's values. We then end up breaking the commandment where we covet what our neighbor has. If this 'thing' we buy IS for 'us' to enjoy, then okay, but if it is ONLY to keep up with the Jones', why are we even doing it? In that case it is NOT for God, but for us to show-off. All things must be done through Christ, and He even tells us this. There is nothing wrong with having nice stuff, but if it is to show-off to our neighbors that we CAN keep up with them, we are not truly Christian. If we were truly Christian, do we NEED all these new gadgets? NO! This is a very good book@ I HIGHLY sugest it!
